2021 week 49—Defensive CSS, Stretchy input size, Lorem Faces
Links worth sharing for web technologies.
Hi there,
This week, I participated in the Asia Pacific ICT Alliance reward judging. Also took some more time to write in both pens & paper and Google Docs.
I also discovered new path walking to work, with some nice views.

→ CSS / Defensive CSS
https://ishadeed.com/article/defensive-css/
There are 20 CSS tips and tricks to create defensive CSS styles, which allows the content to be readable even there are unpredicted errors or layout. For example, when having a white text above a dark image, the text is readable only when the image is correctly loaded. Otherwise, the text becomes unreadable. In such case, we may put a dark gray background color on this element just in case the image is not loaded, the text is still readable.

Another useful tool from Lea Verou. She has been creating tools such as Prism for syntax highlighting, Contrast Ratio for accessibility checking, CSS background patterns etc.

Book Quote
“Notes build up while you think, read, understand and generate ideas, because you have to have a pen in your hand if you want to think, read, understand and generate ideas properly anyway. If you want to learn something for the long run, you have to write it down. If you want to really understand something, you have to translate it into your own words. Thinking takes place as much on paper as in your own head.”
